Solitude
Artist Greta Alfaro challenges viewers with an exercise in contemplation in which there is a celebration to which we are not invited. The protagonists are animals, with no human presence, unlike the still lifes of the past alluded to in the title of this programme. On this occasion, a slug slithers along until it meticulously drinks the tea and then leaves. The still life for the entire piece is lovingly designed and reminds us of a breakfast table. The handling of the timing leads us to a metaphor of the most disturbing stillness. The appearance of a slug, despite being a slow and harmless animal, is a prelude to decay according to popular tradition, so that symbolic value tells us that, despite a relative calm, death, as in a vanitas, lurks in the environment and domestic and everyday situations are no longer pleasant. presented and moderated by Argentine-born, Angelino-based film director Sergio
Bonacci Lapalma, aka Chapete.
